I live in Conn. and I have been looking for a rustic cabinet for several months and the prices in my area are out of control.  I found your site on google and love your work.  I just need to decide on a color.  I have a rustic burnt orange bathroom with white wainscoting.  Trying to decide if I want a black accent or a hunter green accent.  Can you share with me any examples of items that you have stained a deep hunter green?

Lady taking Tigger for trial.  So far, so good with Tigger.  She has been taking him to an arena to ride every night.  She has a barrel race this weekend.  She should let me know next week.....

Thanks Joyce for all of you help.  We made it home fine and he has adjusted amazingly.... We all think he's going to make an amazing horse with a little more instruction and lots of hands on time.

I like my high back bench that I had Twin Oaks Enterprises make me.  I have gotten other things from her and they are always well constructed and painted to my liking.  She matches the color to what I give her and I have been very happy.  If you have a primitive rustic country décor in your home you need to take a look at Twin Oaks Enterprises website.

Do you know of any kid broke horses.  Like a 14 plus year old pleasure horse.  It would be for a young girl to start out on.  Let me know.  

 

Well **** is sold.  I emailed the people that own the stud that he is out of.  They raise a lot of horses and the guy works on a cattle ranch in southern Missouri.  He uses his studs and geldings everyday checking cows and roping.  You can mark him as SOLD 

 

You not only train horses, stand good stallions, you can design a web site with some great information.  Loved the horse care tips.....Loved all the photos

 

A friend asked if I had seen your site. I thought it was one of the better ones that I looked at.

With the recent outbreaks of the neurological form of equine herpesvirus-1, horse owners should be aware of the risks posed by this disease and methods to help protect their horses from exposure and infection. Equine herpesvirus is extremely contagious, and many horses can become latently infected – infecting other horses while not displaying symptoms themselves. Read full story

Test Results Negative for Equine Disease in Missouri

 

(JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.) – The Missouri Department of Agriculture has investigated the outbreak of an infectious virus affecting horses in several states, including Utah.  Missouri does not have any confirmed or suspected cases of the infection at this time. 

 

“We take animal health concerns very seriously and are following stringent biosecurity practices to protect Missouri’s equine population,” said Director of Agriculture Dr. Jon Hagler, a lifelong horseman.  “Horse owners should not be concerned for the welfare of their animals, but we encourage them to continue vigilant monitoring of their stock for signs of any illness.”

 

On May 16, Missouri’s State Veterinarian was notified that three horses had returned to a Boone County farm after being exposed to Equine Herpesvirus Myeloencephalopathy during a show in Odgen, Utah.  The horses were immediately isolated and placed under a veterinarian’s care.

 

In additional, Missouri’s State Veterinarian placed a hold order on the farm May 16, preventing animals at the facility from being transferred elsewhere. 

 

Test results were negative for isolates of the EHV virus, and the horses showed no symptoms of infection. Read full story

Balance and Horsemanship in Game Horses

 

Being in rhythm with your horse is not as hard as you think.

You’ve likely heard the comment that a horse can feel a fly on his back, right? Then of course he can feel your every movement as a rider. .....In fact, you need to be as aware of your horse’s every move as he is of yours. For one reason or another, speed events have gotten the short stick in the realm of horsemanship requirements.  

People don’t just jump into events like cutting or reining and think they can cut corners and win money. You don’t see people buying a young horse and trying to rope and tie a calf with less than a month’s training. But unfortunately, you do see horses and riders in speed events that lack any sort of foundation training and, worse, are often causing bigger problems than they started with from a lack of time spent on training themselves and a lack of time spent to “get with” their horses. Specifically, barrel horses.
